Locale

Scalar

A language tag identifying a locale, for example en, de-AT.

We support a subset of IETF BCP 47:

The language subtag is required and must consist of two lowercase letters. Three-letter language codes are currently not supported. Examples: en, de, fr.
The region subtag is optional and must consist of two uppercase letters. Examples: en-US, de-CH, fr-FR.
Other subtags like script, variant, extension, and private use are currently not supported and are rejected.
